ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has forced the government to close educational institutes to reduce the spread of the virus. As a result of this decision, students lose contact with teachers and a communication gap also arises. This survey attempts to bridge the gap between students and teachers. Through this survey, we sought to understand where the students are lacking and what are the different steps that can be taken by the teacher to improve the performance of the student and whether this concept should be reviewed or not. We found that most of the researchers who have published papers that we have read did the same mistake in their research, therefore we realized that the concept of AI should be studied again, and we should try not to repeat the same mistake in our research.The main aim of our project is to build 'Teacher facing dashboard' which can help the teacher to summarize,visualize and analyze the data of the education field(academics) and also understanding the students performance using Machine Learning(ML) and Deep Learning (DL). © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the style of teaching and learning, one of them in medical education. Face-to-face meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic can no longer be done freely. With existing limitations, students are required to learn to understand learning without face-to-face with educators, especially medical students. So, it is necessary touse learning media that can increase active learning and learning independently. Learning media such as augmented reality is one that needs to be studied to help students learn. This research aims to understand the state-of-the-art of augmented reality implementation for human anatomy learning in the medical education field from 2018 to 2022. This research reviews recent studies about augmented implementation for human anatomy learning in medical education. The results of this research explain that there are things that can still be a challenge for further research. Future research can explore research for general people who use augmented reality to educate about human anatomy and the impact of its use. Another suggestion is to develop by minimizing the cost as low as possible. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Field‐based learning is a key element in wildlife management curriculum as it is a valuable teaching tool for natural resource topics. There are multiple constraints that restrict use of field‐based learning techniques in wildlife programs that have been complicated by the COVID‐19 pandemic. Many academic programs were forced to rapidly transition to online instruction, but despite these difficulties, there was a need to provide interactive, in the field learning opportunities for students. This necessity resulted in the development of a live streaming system to provide an interactive learning experience (Leopold Live!). In this case study, we describe the technology used in Leopold Live! to augment an online, wildlife habitat management course at Texas A&M University, and the associated challenges and adjustments needed to improve delivery in the future. We conclude that Leopold Live! serves as a potential method to meet the challenge of providing interactive, field‐based learning in a distance education setting. ABSTRACT

Summary : Social work field education has experienced major disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while also embracing new opportunities to grow. The Transforming the Field Education Landscape research partnership developed a cross-sectional web-based survey with closed- and open-ended questions to understand student perceptions of COVID-19's impacts on social work field education. The survey opened during the first wave of the pandemic from July 8 to 29, 2020 and was completed by 367 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students across Canada. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings : Respondents experienced reduced practicum hours and placements terminating early or moving online. Students were concerned about gaining adequate experience for future job prospects. They were generally positive about academic institutional responses to COVID-19 but described financial challenges with tuition costs and a lack of paid practica. Respondents were mostly satisfied with practicum supervision. They experienced negative impacts of COVID-19 on mental health with isolation and remote learning and described a lack of institutional mental health support. Students were concerned with missing direct practice skills, while some students reported more flexible hours, access to online events beyond their region, and increased research experience. They expressed a need for practicum flexibility and accommodation. Applications : Recommendations include an increase in flexibility and accommodations for practicum students, exchanges of promising and wise field education practices, and accessible postsecondary mental health supports. Professional development opportunities should support graduates who missed learning opportunities in their practicum. © The Author(s) 2023.

ABSTRACT

People's life has been significantly affected due to the COVID-19 epidemic. This includes society, business, health, economic, and education fields. The purpose of this research is to investigate the use of mobile learning (m-learning) based on perceptions of higher education students in Saudi Arabia. The study analyzed the views on m-learning technologies and the utilization patterns of handheld devices for teaching and learning. It also considered the influence of demographic factors namely, gender, age, subject specialization, and the average smartphone usage. The challenges and obstacles hindering access to e-learning content have also been investigated. The study adopts a quantitative research design. The research questionnaire was administrated randomly to a sample of students comprised of males and females and from different departments across a public university in Saudi Arabia. Overall, the findings show the significant impact of smart devices on the educational process, but there are still many barriers that prevent the successful application of such technologies. The analysis provided valuable insights to design, pilot, and deploy future large-scale m-learning projects in higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern nations. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

While online learning had traditionally been implemented to aid in-person education, it has recently evolved into a critical tool for remote education. In particular, the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the spread of online learning and its significance. However, this wave of innovation in the education field has revealed the lack of research on how online education should be systematically provided and which educational aspects should be considered to enhance learner satisfaction in online settings. With the recent emergence of the Metaverse, VR education is once again proposed as a major tool for online learning despite existing limitations in research which put both systematic and educational aspects into consideration. Hence, this study presents and discusses a research model that converges technology acceptance model, information systems success model, and self-determination theory with the purpose of exploring variables that affect learner satisfaction, mediating the flow theory. Results showed that most variables of both self-determination theory and information system quality within VR education impact learner satisfaction. In particular, learners' flow-complete immersion in learning-functions as an important mediating variable for learner satisfaction. These findings suggest designing and running a systematic platform that reflects self-directed learning is imperative to bring the best educational practices into the Metaverse. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays in Ukraine, people must plan their future according to the specifics of new relations - the new specifics of communications, labor organization etc. Each industry has both common problems and its own specifics. This paper examines the specifics of the education field by researching issues of higher education at Lviv Polytechnic, Lviv National Agrarian University, Ukrainian Academy of Printing in the field of information technology. In particular, the impact of time on graduates and the effectiveness of knowledge they`ve received at the university. The study is based on a survey of graduates of ICTA, Lviv National Agrarian University, Ukrainian Academy of Printing, which contains questions grouped into three subgroups: subjective perception of the studying process, subjective feeling for choosing a profession, subjective feeling of the need for changes in the education system. The survey was conducted in the target group of graduates. The answers in the training group shows the level of satisfaction with the baggage of knowledge and convictions in the quality of education among graduates. Indicate the level of how the market sees the prospects for computer science. Answers in the cyber security group is the attitude of young people (computer science students) to the provision of cyber communication at the state level. No research has been conducted on the provision of the internet at the university level. The results of the work are visualized and presented both in graphs and in absolute and relative values. The study can assess the level of resilience of computer science specialties to the problems caused by the pandemic, including distance studying and distance work in IT companies. To enhance the results, the dynamics of recruitment of entrants over several years was analyzed. In the report for 2021 we see that the number of freshmen has increased in Lviv universities. Of the 100% of surveyed students, who worked during the pandemic in the private IT companies, worked remotely and received a full salary, which also shows the resilience of the specialty to the challenges of the pandemic (this mode reduces risks and their distribution). © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

ABSTRACT

The arts and education fields recognize the importance of museums and art galleries as not only buildings that house hundreds, often thousands, of specialized objects, artworks, research, and conservation but rather as institutions sharing the history of people and their environment, thus they play a substantive role in modern society. For art students, practitioners, and hobbyists, these institutions are often visited to provide inspiration and practice, although the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact. National lockdowns and restrictions, and social distancing measures meant museums and art galleries underwent mandated temporary closures, and socially distanced specified visitor routes often meant onsite art practice was no longer permitted. This exploratory pictorial takes a first-person research method to present a collection of reflections, experiences, and example artworks by facilitators of an art practice group that moved from on-site to online practice during the pandemic. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

This article presents an in-depth study and analysis of the application of big data-artificial intelligence fusion technology to the field of education in the context of the New Crown epidemic. Since the outbreak of the New Crown epidemic, there is a need to understand the channels for solving the demands of productive life during the epidemic, and the main way to solve these problems is to apply the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence. Therefore, exploring the application of big data-artificial intelligence fusion technology in education in the context of the New Crest pneumonia epidemic is a top priority for reform and development nowadays. This study uses the paradigm narrow shift analysis framework to verify whether Computer Aided Instructional design, multimedia instructional design, and informational instructional design produce migration. For the intelligent stage of instructional design, the inevitability of the change in basic assumptions of instructional design in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) is first explained in terms of the opportunities brought by AI to education and teaching, the problems of the original information-based instructional design itself, and the many challenges it faces. On this basis, we also use the change in basic assumptions analysis framework to explain the content of intelligent instructional design by using the four elements of beliefs, values, symbols, and paradigms promised by the members of the community, verify that it has shifted, and build a change in the basic assumptions model from multimedia instructional design to information-based instructional design to intelligent instructional design. The article gives three countermeasures to solve the problem, that is, raising awareness, improving the plan, and strengthening the drill. To ensure the smooth implementation of the emergency management of national covid control program (NCCP), higher education institutions should further strengthen the construction efforts of specialized psychological counseling teams, build an early warning mechanism for psychological problems of the NCCP epidemic in higher education institutions, and a multilevel supervision system.

ABSTRACT

Explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge enhance job productivity by properly capturing knowledge. At the same time, a knowledge map systematically presents the captured knowledge, which increases the ease of use and utilization of information. With the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak, ICT allows individuals to connect to the outside world for reducing the effect of the pandemic. The role of ICT is more obvious in the education field. Recently, ICT competence and how to improve it, have been one of the hottest topics in research discussions. Even previous studies have shown that ICT competence is crucial in the education field, though most focuses were on teachers, yet the academic staff has been rarely getting attention. This study proposes a method of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to confirm the influencing effects model on ICT competence, which is derived from the knowledge map. The knowledge capturing was carried out through the literature review process for the best depiction on the knowledge map. This research aims to find out the influence effects coupled with the degree of the relationship between different factors. Chiang Mai University was the selected case of a sample group, which represents robust academia in ICT readiness toward the rapid period of digital transformation. The factor model has schemed from the knowledge map and hypothesis setting. The questionnaire was conducted to survey sample views as primary data, consequently, the model was tested by PLS-SEM. The results reveal significant validation on the hypothetical model. These research findings yield worthwhile implications for universities to quickly adapt the layout of strategies, support policy, and appropriate training courses regards to the ICT competence's constitution factors. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected all aspects of social work education, including field education. The Transforming the Field Education Landscape (TFEL) partnership conducted two national online surveys to determine the impacts of the pandemic on social work field education. The first survey explored the perspectives of students and received responses from 367 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students. The second survey was designed to gather the perspectives of field instructors, with 73 field instructors completing the survey. The article examines the impacts of the pandemic on social work practice, field supervision, practicum flexibility and accommodations in placement, the shift to remote learning, perceptions of future career prospects and the effects on wellness and mental health. This article contributes to an increased understanding of the strengths and challenges facing social work field education, and informs field planning and responses in a pandemic. The findings will be of interest to social work field education programmes, field education coordinators and directors, field instructors, field agencies and undergraduate and graduate social work students. ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has isolated many engineering students at home and complicated access to instrumentation and hardware resources necessary to support laboratory courses. One viable alternative to bringing the hardware to students (and the correspondingly high overhead associated with shipping laboratory kits all over the world) is to enable remote access to that hardware. A remote lab allows students to access real hardware physically located in a single location from anywhere in the world. Advances in cloud computing allow students to take advantage of a full-fledged remote experience without compromising what they could have accomplished if they were physically present in the lab. While remote access laboratories are not new, the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled a unique opportunity to compare learning with how remote access to real hardware vs. hands-on access to the same hardware. Comparisons between the two modes of learning were made for a junior level course in digital circuit design using field programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware offered via remote access in autumn 2020 and via hands-on access in the same course in winter 2020. Detailed assessments of student work were grounded in Bloom's Taxonomy to classify the complexity of student cognition and learning. This study presents assessment results associated with a single laboratory assignment that was the first in a series of laboratory assignments in the digital design course. Work from 41 students from each offering were analyzed within the first five levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. Results show that students performed significantly better in terms of overall scores and analyze skills when presented with remote access to laboratory hardware than when having that hardware in hand. Comparisons between the two settings in the remaining four levels of Bloom's Taxonomy (remember, understand, apply, evaluate) were not significantly different between the two offerings. These results complement other studies that highlight the benefits of remote laboratories. Accordingly, the increased efficiency and cost savings of the remote lab approach can offer stable and reliable instruction well beyond the COVID-19 crisis. © American Society for Engineering Education, 2021

ABSTRACT

The main goal of this paper is to analyse the webinars of the regional tourism entities of Porto and Norte (ERTPNP) and Centro de Portugal (ERTCP) that were held after the emergence of the pandemic crisis. The present work led us to infer that these events were well accomplished, namely in addressing success stories, sharing experiences, best practices and national, as well as international, know-how. Technological adaptation was particularly evident in educational institutions, which absorbed new learning opportunities—this was the case of Turismo de Portugal and its twelve schools that introduced significant changes in organisation and training methodology. Tourism and education fields use technologies of the new digital era that enable the development of digital skills. This way, they fill gaps that, in other times, would cause much deeper economic and social crises. The methodology adopted in the present study focused on a case study of the two abovementioned regional tourism entities. Within this scope, data collection techniques used comprise direct observations arising from the viewing of conferences, semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
